In the shop, you wouldn’t use the wrong tool, technique, or procedure for the job. You’d use the one that makes the most sense. The same applies to how I structure my copywriting pricing. Project and package fees just make more sense than charging by the word or hour. Here’s why—and what you can expect.

When you invest in my industrial copywriting services, you’re not paying for words on a page. You’re investing in:

Hourly rates don’t capture this value, and per-word pricing encourages bad behavior. Technical writing should be concise and powerful—not padded to increase word count

A note about the typical timelines. These are just average times and some projects may take more time or they may take less. It fluctuates for various reasons. For example, the sooner you can get the necessary basic materials to me, the quicker the turnaround.

The same goes for the revision/editing process. Projects that are complex or highly technical may take longer to do the necessary research and planning and editing. If a project requires interviews, the same applies. The longer it take to set up… you get the picture.

  5. Revisions—You receive up to three rounds of revisions within 30 days of first draft delivery as well as… a free secret one. We’ll talk about that when the time
  6. Final Delivery—You get content ready for your design team or marketing You don’t want me doing graphics… believe me. But I can make suggestions and offer ideas for what to include and how the project look should be structured.
  7. Next Steps—We’ll move forward to planning our next project You do have a next project, right? I thought so.

Custom Copywriting Fees for Project Packages

Need something that doesn’t fit neatly into the categories above? Let’s talk. I create custom packages for:

  1. Product launch campaigns
  2. Complete or partial website content overhauls
  3. Technical documentation with marketing integration
  4. Trade show and event support materials
  5. Industrial safety compliance and training content

Payment Terms

For most projects over $1,000, I request a 50% non-refundable deposit to lock in your place in my schedule, with the remaining 50% due upon delivery of the first draft. The deposit may be used to secure the necessary materials I need personally to do the project. Things like code books, reference material, and the like. That’s all included in the copywriting pricing and fee.

For smaller projects or ongoing work arrangements, we can discuss alternative payment structures. Preferred payment method is ACH (direct deposit) or bank wire transfer. I can accept credit cards.

If we’re a good fit for each other, retainer agreements could be a good option.
